Ayurveda is said to have been first conformed
as a text by Agnivesha in the book Agnivesh tantra.
Verses related Ayurveda are also mentioned in
the Atharvaveda. In the earlier days of its formation,
the structure of Ayurvedic medicine was orally
transferred via the Gurukul system until a written
script came into subsistence.
What is interesting is Ayurveda's utilization
of herbs, foods, aromas, gems, colors, yoga, mantras,
lifestyle and surgery. Consequently Ayurveda nurtured
into an esteemed and widely used method of healing
in India in ancient times. Ayurveda was marked
out into eight definite branches of medicine.
There were two main disciplines of Ayurveda at
that time. Atreya (the school of physicians) and
Dhanvantari (the school of surgeons). These two
schools made Ayurveda a more systematically confirmable
and classifiable medical structure.
